Hi, I’m Erin! I’m married to my best friend Niall and I’m a mom of three. I’d say I’m in a season of life where my days are simple and the constant outpouring that motherhood requires is forever challenging and refining me. It’s the hardest and best job.
Here’s why I wanted to start this blog and what Huntington means to me.
A little history…
I was born and raised in Santa Barbara, CA. I think at heart I will always, always be a California girl:) I am one of four kids, second in the line up. I’ve lived away from home for some time now but I still miss my sisters and brother every day. My dad is a quiet thinker, a hard worker, cycles 100 miles for fun and bbq’s a mean tri-tip. He’s also an avid sports fan and loves history. My mom is impressively creative, loves hanging her laundry in the sunshine and shopping at thrift stores (like mother like daughter). I go to her every time I need prayer or Godly advice. I think I’m a pretty good mixture of both my parents.
I met my husband while working as an au pair in Ireland when I was 20. He was a student at the University of Limerick where I joined a club volleyball team to have a life outside of the dairy farm I lived on … I always looked forward to seeing the ‘cute Irish guy’ at training sessions on Tuesday & Friday nights. We got to talking, started seeing each other outside of volleyball related events … and the rest is history:) After our wedding in my hometown, I moved to Belfast where Niall had been working as an aeronautical engineer since finishing college. We lived there for nearly six years before moving with our two little ones to Georgia in the fall of 2017.
The years that followed our move held so much joy but also times of deep sorrow. Our experience with recurrent miscarriage began and at times felt like it would never, ever end. I began to write and paint more as a means of comfort and distraction. Turns out, putting this God given gift to use brought me extra joy and purpose in my life! Unexpectedly and only by God’s grace was our third child born in 2021. He is an answer to so many prayers and a constant reminder to not take a single moment with my children for granted.
I love Mexican food, fitness, art, lettering/calligraphy, and expensive (much to my husband’s dismay) coffee to name a few. I’m a stay at home mom trying to find joy in these simple days with my children… and let’s be honest, sometimes just not go crazy;) Over the years I’ve loved writing and finally decided it was time to have an outlet for all of my ideas, thoughts, and creative projects. My little ones usually keep me pretty busy but when I can I’ll be sharing here on Huntington Letters.
Thanks for stopping by!
